General Information

The Irrigation Department is a division of Public Works.

Irrigation water is available May 1 through October 15.  The irrigation schedule is posted in the North Side News in May. Irrigation bills are mailed March 1 and are due by April 1. For questions regarding your irrigation bill, please contact (208) 324-8189 extension 105.

The City of Jerome owes its existence to irrigation.  Jerome had its beginnings in June, 1907 when officials of the Twin Falls North Side Land and Water Company toured the area to select sites for three company towns, one for each division of the Northside irrigation project.  The town of Jerome had boomed by 1909 when the first water was due to be turned into the canal system.

On August 24, 1915, the small but growing Village of Jerome, adopted Ordinance No. 66, an ordinance providing for the conveying, controlling, and regulating the distribution of water for irrigation purposes within the corporate limits.

Each spring, before the season begins, the Public Works Department spends about four weeks cleaning the ditches, pipes and boxes.  Other repairs and maintenance are performed year-round.
