Fire Department Burn Permit Requirements

All burn permits must be completed in person at Fire Sation 2 (Across from McDonalds). Please call (324-2323) or come by 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 7 days a week and a Firefighter will assist you. Please read all the information below prior to arriving at the station. 

Recreational fires do not require a burning permit, however you must still practice safe burning.  Recreational fires are defined as follows:  Burning materials other than garbage or refuse where the fuel being burned is contained in an approved incinerator, outdoor fireplace or barbecue pit and with a total fuel area of three feet (3') or less in diameter and two feet (2') or less in height for pleasure, religious, ceremonial, cooking or similar purposes.

Please complete a City of Jerome Burn Permit in person at Station 2. By completing the form, you agree to follow the conditions and requirements of the Jerome City Code Section 8-22 and the Jerome City Open Burning Rules

Prior to burning, always check DEQ Air Quality web site, to ensure burning is permitted.

Know the rules

Do not burn when wind exceeds 10 mph.

A person must be present throughout the entire burn and in possesion of the permit.

Burning must take place in the hours between sunrise and sunset.

A fire extinguisher, garden hose, or any other fire extinguishing equipment must be ready for use

No burning of materials that emit dense smoke, noxious odors, or create a nuisance.
